Does anyone know what has happened to the great website / online shop? It was still there before I became very busy this summer. Now the pound is weakening, so I am planning to order some CDs from UK. It's a shame the site has been down for a while.
I'm pretty sure they have stopped trading. Pity, as it was a good site like you say slainte. Footstompin.com is the nearest equivalent here but it's only Scottish music they sell.
This was their press release..
"TRADTUNES.COM TO CEASE TRADING
tradmusic.com has received news that TradTunes.com, the traditional, Celtic and roots music download website, will suspend it's service from Monday 9th June 2008. Since its launch in 2005 the websites' parent company, Uist Media Group, has diversified into other areas and subsequently they find themselves unable to support TradTunes.com to the extent that they would like. As a result, and after some considerable thought, Uist Media Group have decided to suspend all further TradTunes activities from 9th June for the foreseeable future."
From Tradmusic.com (Please note this is a different organisation)
No, it's different people. Tradmusic.com was based in Dumfries.
However, I believe they have stopped trading too although I have no confirmation of this. There had been a notice on the site (August) that it was closed for maintenance but it now seems to have disappeared altogether.
Sorry to be back there a bit late, but thank you, "bogman" and John, for adding info. Hope the site will be back.
At the moment, I'm thinking about purchasing a couple of CDs from MusicScotland.com. They deal with both Scottish and Irish music though they don't have much info about musicians.
This is an online shop for irish trad (and other traditional music from around the world) that works much the same as itunes. You can download directly from the webpage and they have a nice selection of stuff.

Re: www.tradmusic.com
Of course that refers to tradtunes.com but I'm pretty sure it's the same folk and tradmusic.com disappeared very soon after tradtunes.com
